Japanese 料理 or cuisine began to make its way into Singapore in a big way during the 1970s
when many Japanese MNCs took advantage of the low cost labor in Singapore to set up manufacturing plants here.
Mr Takagi, was one of the pioneers in Singapore who spearheaded a chain of F&B startups. A reputed Japanese
F&B MNC posted him to Singapore and under his leadership, the company expanded the beverage business into many
countries in Asia and also diversified into food business. He started more than 30 restaurants and eateries in
Singapore and in parts of Asia. During this period, he also developed new beverages, food concepts and
manufacturing know-how that have left its mark even till today.
In 2003, Mr Takagi became self-employed and began planning to launch Creative Food Concept. Many in the F&B
industry regarded Mr Takagi as the expert. With his passion on everything relating to Japanese F&B, he was invited
by other MNCs to be their F&B advisor.
From 1 May 2004 onwards, a chain of restaurants under Creative Food Concept opened at Liang Court.
The following restaurants/eateries were opened in a short space of time in 2004; Tampopo, Tom Ton, Ajino-sato
and Tsuru Tsuru Tei. On 28 Feb 2007, a new branch of Tom Ton opened at Central (Clarke Quay MRT).
In his vision, Mr Takagi plans to introduce more Japanese cuisine that is not common in Singapore. He is always on a
constant look out for research materials on Japanese cuisine originating from Japan and regularly introduces it to
customers. He hopes to bring Japanese food dining to the next level of appreciation to customers in Singapore.
